If you have ever searched for ways to make some extra cash online, you’ve probably come across doing surveys for money. However, there’s an insane amount of different opportunities out there which all have their different flaws and advantages. In this article, I will give you all the info you need about what I think is one of the best sites where you can take surveys for money. Find out how you can make some extra cash with Survey Junkie.
What Is Survey Junkie?
In case you’re not familiar with Survey Junkie, let me give you a quick overview on what it is and what it can do for you.
You may have heard about all these people taking surveys that pay cash. Taking surveys is a way to make some money on the side, making use of the spare time you have during the day. There are a lot of survey websites, many of them good and many not. Survey Junkie definitely belongs to the good ones.
How can you be rewarded when taking surveys on Survey Junkie?
Most survey sites out there offer similar ways for you to redeem your points for money. However, Survey Junkie has one major advantage on this front. While by far most others only offer redemption in the form of gift cards or bank transfer, you can also receive payments from Survey Junkie via Paypal.
It’s fairly easy. For every survey you participate in, you’re collecting points. These points can then be redeemed into one of the above-mentioned rewards. And with Survey Junkie, every point is worth $0.01.
That might not seem to be much. But, if you earn 300 points for a short 5-minute survey while you wait at a doctor’s office, it’s not that bad either. Of course, taking surveys will not make you rich, no matter which survey site you choose. It’s a nice additional few dollars to support your household, though.
Take surveys for money with your phone using the Survey Junkie app
That’s right, there’s also an SJ app. That means you can literally answer some questions whenever you have your phone with you. You don’t need a computer, but you can as well take surveys while on the bus, on the train, or waiting somewhere.
Many survey sites don’t offer that luxury. That’s actually one of the main reasons why I recommend Survey Junkie over all the other choices out there. I think it doesn’t get much more appealing than using your waiting time to make some extra LEGIT cash with your phone.
How Much Money Can You Make With Survey Junkie?
Platforms that offer taking surveys for money work in a selective way. Based on the information they have about you (from your profile), they will show you surveys that you (most likely) qualify for.
What that means is that it’s not possible to predict how many surveys you can take every month, week or day. Maybe this week, the majority of surveys needs a focus group of people outside your age group. This is just a natural side effect of conducting real business where the main focus lies in providing value for Survey Junkie’s customers (the brands who conduct the surveys).
However, as Survey Junkie is a popular platform, there will be plenty of opportunity for you.
Here are some specific numbers based on experience
To give you a clearer picture, here are some numbers that you might expect. Based on these, you can then decide if you feel it’s worth the time or if you’d rather want to skip this opportunity and head over to the more ambitious ways to make extra money.
Surveys on Survey Junkie also vary in the amount of points you can gain. Longer ones are not always rewarded higher than short ones (or at least not proportionally). Depending on how many surveys you qualify for, you can expect to make somewhere between $1.50 and $5.00 per day.
That doesn’t seem like much, but keep in mind that it doesn’t take much time either. And if you would otherwise not make use of that time at all, it might suddenly be worth it. After all, there are people who report making around $200 in extra cash from Survey Junkie every month.
Is Survey Junkie Legit?
Navigating the internet, you really have to be careful these days. Especially in the field of making money online, there are so many scams out there, trying to reel you in with shiny offerings.
Survey Junkie is not that. It’s a legit site, trusted by legit brands to conduct market research. There are real people behind the system, and I’ve written emails back and forth with them to ask questions about their service. So, from what I can tell (and what the majority of other users can tell as well), Survey Junkie is a perfectly legit service.
Set Up Your Account And Start Earning Points
The good news is: Even for tech-phobic people, SJ has made it easy to set up an account and get going. It’s really as simple as creating an account on facebook.
These are the specific steps
First, visit their website and click on the huge JOIN NOW button.
Next, you need to give them some basic information (ZIP code, date of birth, and gender). This is necessary so they can assign matching surveys to you. For doing this, you are already rewarded with 25 points, equaling $0.25.
At last, you can perform a few additional tasks to fully set up your profile and earn more points on the way. This is what you should do after signing up:
- Confirm your email – 25 points
- Complete profile – 50 points
- “How It Works” Tour – 5 points
- Profile surveys – 10 points each
By taking the additional profile surveys (usually a bunch of questions on specific topics), you not only earn points. Survey Junkie will also be able to offer you some more rewarding surveys to make money because you are now a more accurate fit for certain survey groups. Definitely make use of this opportunity!
Unfortunately, Survey Junkie is only accessible in the US, Canada and Australia at the moment of this writing. However, make sure to still check while you’re here as they might at any time open their service to other countries, or even globally.
Survey Junkie Tips
As I’ve already said, taking surveys for money will not make you rich. Still, it might help you cover your expenses more easily, or to achieve savings goals faster. I have a course where you save $1,000 in three months to jumpstart your journey to financial freedom. Taking surveys for money could be a great way to increase these savings or simply achieve them more easily.
By the way, if you want to learn more about how normal people like you and me can realistically achieve financial freedom, you might want to check out my free email bootcamp:

Alright, back to topic. I’ve already mentioned before that you should absolutely fill out your profile completely. Not only will you gain some nice welcome points for it. You will also qualify for more rewarding surveys.
Additional survey types
Although they appear rather rarely (sometimes once a month or even less frequently), I want to mention these. Every once in a while, there will be one of the following special opportunities:
- Phone surveys
- Product tests
- Focus groups
As these special surveys usually mean a little more effort on your end, they are a lot more rewarding. Some of them pay up to $150, maybe even more in the future. If you qualify for one of them, you should definitely make use of the opportunity. One of those could easily double your survey income for the month.
Survey Junkie Pulse Browser Extension
For additional points, you may install the Pulse browser extension. It will monitor some of your movements around the web and use the data to help their clients get even better results with their market research. Of course, they reward you with points for your help with that.
Don't fraud the system!
As with all digital services, there is some algorithmic intelligence behind Survey Junkie too. When you participate in shorter surveys, you will most likely answer the same questions many times as some of them are simply essential to many surveys.
Make sure that your answers are consistent. If you change your annual income with every survey, the system will flag you as fraudulent. As a result, your account might get suspended without further notice.
Survey Junkie App - Take Surveys For Money With Your Phone
Just because it’s so important in the overall experience with Survey Junkie, I mention the app again. Many survey providers don’t have an app which means you can only take surveys with your computer – or by using the unhandy browser of your mobile device.
The app enables you to take surveys wherever you are. If you want to put your spare time to best use, then installing the app is essential.
The Upsides And Downsides Of Survey Junkie
As with almost anything on the Internet, there are two sides to Survey Junkie as well. I want to show you both sides so you can decide for yourself if you want to give it a shot or not. Let’s start with the upsides.
Survey Junkie upsides - the best online surveys for money
- Easy to set up and use. Beautiful user experience which makes the whole process very fun.
- The app makes it usable on all devices so you have complete flexibility on when to use it.
- PayPal cash-out as a form of redemption. Many other survey sites only offer bank transfer or gift cards (which Survey Junkie also has, of course).
- Low minimum threshold. You can redeem your points as soon as you have 1000 of them, which equal $10. Other sites have thresholds as high as $20 or even $50.
- They have an extensive FAQ section that answers nearly all questions you might have about Survey Junkie.
Survey Junkie downsides
- Sometimes you get email invitations for a survey that you don’t qualify for.
- Sometimes you answer a few questions in a survey and then you are told that you don’t qualify. That can be frustrating. Survey Junkie still rewards you for your efforts with a couple of points.
- As I’ve mentioned in the paragraph about frauding the system, Survey Junkie might suspend your account without further notice. That’s an issue with all online survey sites, though. It seems to be hard for them to distinguish bots or fraud accounts from the rest.
- Some users have reported that their requested payouts hadn’t gone through. However, when contacting the support, these issues can usually be fixed quickly.
Final Words - Who Should Use Survey Junkie?
Let’s wrap this review up by answering the question who should actually use Survey Junkie. In my opinion, Survey Junkie is a great way to make some extra money for people who know what they want to do with that money. There’s no use in spending two hours of your time to earn $30, and then spending them on more Starbucks frozen coffees.
However, taking surveys for money is great if you have specific goals for the money. For example, you could put it 100% into your savings account or your Freedom Fund. That would be a great way to help you achieve your savings goals.
On the other hand, online surveys aren’t going to make you rich. So, if you are searching for legitimate ways to make real money online, you should take a look at other opportunities like affiliate marketing, blogging, starting an online shop and similar endeavors.
